Gertrude E. Green, daughter of the late Rev. James M. and Martha Chasteen King, was born in Huntingdale, Missouri on November 19, 1910, and passed away at Golden Living Center in Dexter, Missouri on December 29, 2007, at the age of 97 years, 1 month and 10 days.
Mrs. Green had lived in Southeast Missouri most of her life. She had lived in Aid, Bloomfield and Dexter, Missouri. She and her husband had worked and owned the grocery store in Aid for several years. She was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and had been a member in the Bloomfield Eastern Star Chapter.
On July 11, 1930, she was married to Lewis Herman Green. He preceded her in death on September 19, 1973.
Surviving are one son, James L. Green of Dallas, Georgia; two daughters, Janice Elaine Green of Dexter, Missouri, Debra Ann Hicks of Canada; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son in infancy, Clarence Green, one brother, Clarence King and two sisters, Lucille King and Opal King.
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 2, 2008, after 10:00 A.M. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Ronald Williams of Aid, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements
