Rev. Gerald W. King, son of the late Roy Judson and Cleda Mildred Allen King, was born in Campbell, Missouri on August 14, 1930, and passed away at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Missouri on December 26, 2007, at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 12 days.
Mr. King had lived in Poplar Bluff, Sikeston and St. Louis, Missouri before moving to Puxico in 1967. He had owned and operated a welding shop and had worked for the Puxico Schools as a bus driver for many years. He was a General Baptist Minister and had pastored at area churches and was currently pastoring the Hill General Baptist Church near Bloomfield, Missouri. He was a volunteer at the Puxico Nutrition Center. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and had served during the Korean War.
On June 28, 1968, he was married to Bonnie Mae Lackey Jones in Kinder, Missouri. She preceded him in death on November 20, 1997.
Surviving are four daughters, Cathy Dunivan of Advance, Missouri, Sherry Spencer of Advance, Missouri, Cindy Kennedy of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Bethel Covington of Abilene Texas; six sons, Danny King of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Stanley Jones of Grassy, Missouri, Marvin S. Jones of Puxico, Missouri, Randy and Rex Jones both of Jackson, Missouri, Kenneth Jones of Indianapolis, Indiana; 30 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth D. King of St. Charles, Missouri, Carl E. King of Mt. Home, Arkansas, Robert D. King of Puxico, Missouri; three sisters, Mary Jane Harrison of Advance, Missouri, Lois Mae Loida of Sullivan, Missouri, and Ina Marie Davis of Omaha, Nebraska. Other relatives and many friends also survive.
Friends may call on Sunday, December 30, 2007, after 5:00 P.M. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 31, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Ray Placher of Puxico, Missouri and Rev. Kenneth Lambert of Bloomfield, Missouri officiating.
Burial will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
