George W. Woodruff, the son of the late Grigg and Nora Norwood Woodruff, was born in Parma, Missouri on March 27, 1912, and passed away at the Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter, Missouri on June 16, 2013, at the age of 101 years, 2 months and 20 days.
He had lived in the Essex before moving to Dexter in 1937. He had worked for many years at the Coffey & Camp Lumber Company and later was self-employed. He was a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter, Missouri.
On October 20, 1934, he was married to Mary Alma Woodruff in Essex, Missouri. She preceded him in death on October 6, 2008.
Surviving are one son, Gene Woodruff of Dexter; one niece, Marilyn Grubbs of Dexter; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Lee of Phoenix, Arizona. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Jerry L. Woodruff; two brothers, Gratton & Hershall Woodruff; and three sisters, Beatrice, Alma & Alta Woodruff.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday June 19, 2013, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter Missouri.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Missouri with the Rev. John Armbruster of Sikeston officiating.
