Rev. George Hill, son of the late James R. and Pearl Mae Hunott Hill, was born in Matthews, Missouri on January 17, 1918, and passed away at the Missouri Southern Healthcare facility in Dexter, Missouri on January 10, 2006, at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 24 days.
He had lived in the Matthews and Sikeston area until moving to Essex since 1940. He had pastored the Assembly of God Church in Essex, Missouri for approximately 40 years. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
On March 13, 1937, he was married to Geneva "Neet" Tetley in Sikeston, Missouri. She preceded him in death on May 20, 1999. On August 20, 1999, he was married to Wanda Hayes Sides in Dexter, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda Hill of Essex, Missouri; three daughters, Charlotte Merideth of Essex, Missouri, Connie Thompson of Sikeston, Missouri, and Georgia Ann Horton of Essex, Missouri; one step-daughter, Sharon Dial of Demopolis, Alabama; two step-sons, Garry Sides of Essex, Missouri, Dean Sides of Newport, Arkansas; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 7 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by by two brothers, Robert and Richard Hill, and three sisters, Aura Harper, Louise Schaeffer, and Alfreda Schultz, one step-daughter, Pam Sides.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 13, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 14, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Larie Burdine of Essex, Missouri, Rev. David Looney of Sikeston, Missouri, and Rev. Mike Brown of Essex, Missouri officiating.
