Genalee Jeanette Jarrell, daughter of the late Orlando and Kathleen Brooks Smith, was born in , on February 27, 1935, and passed away at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on September 28, 2007, at the age of 72 years, 7 months and 1 day.
Mrs. Jarrell had spent her childhood in Essex, Missouri, lived in St. Louis, lived in Barstow, California from 1987-1994 and now lived in Dexter. She was a retired rate clerk with Yellow Freight and attended the Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons and daughters in law, Michael and Debra Jarrell of Dexter, Missouri, David and Kathy Jarrell of Barstow, California; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Harold Smith of Casatt, South Carolina, Terry Smith of Decatur, Illinois; seven sisters, June Skaggs of Drumright, Oklahoma, Etta Tally and Louise Turin both of St. Louis, Missouri, Irene Crader of Hickory, Mississippi, Doris Guttry of Northtown, Pensylvania, Madonna Schoen of New Berlin, Illinois, and Gwendolyn Smith of Vandalia, Illinois. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one brother, Hickman Smith and one sister, Sonda Douglass.

Funeral services will be held on Monday October 1, 2007, at 2:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Phil Warren of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
