Frieda Yates

Frieda Mae Yates of Columbia, Missouri, daughter of the late William and Anna Katherine Lenox Wilkerson, was born on August 19, 1918, in Puxico, Missouri and passed away on September 5, 2012, at The Bluffs Nursing Home in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 94 years and 17 days. She had lived in Columbia the past four years and had lived in Dudley and Puxico most of her life where she and her husband had owned and operated Yates Grocery on Hwy 51 near Dudley. She had been a member of the First General Baptist Church in Puxico, the past 45 years where she was a Sunday school teacher, and Bible school teacher, and the Secretary-Clerk for 29 years. On June 17, 1933, she was married to Paul Yates, Sr. in Puxico, Missouri. He preceded her in death in February of 1972. Surviving are one daughter, Katherine Musbach of Columbia, Missouri; two sons, Paul "Bub" Yates, Jr. of Dudley, Missouri, William Hershel Yates of Raymore, Missouri; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. Other relatives and family also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Franklin Dean Yates, her parents, brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held on Saturday September 8, 2012, from 8:30 to 10:30 am at the First General Baptist Church in Puxico, Missouri. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012, at 10:30 am at the First General Baptist Church in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Kenneth Lambert of Bloomfield, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
