Flossie Abbott

Flossie Abbott, daughter of the late James Loyd and Ines DeJournett Byrd, was born in Parma, Missouri on March 30, 1923, and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on February 19, 2013, at the age of 89 years. She had lived in Grayridge and Advance before moving to Salcedo in 1974. She had was of the Baptist faith. On January 23, 1939, she was married to Emery L. Abbott in Grayridge, Missouri. He preceded her in death on Febrary 1, 2008. Surviving are two daughters & spouse, Linda & Richard Bess of Cape Girardeau, Barbara Day of Carthage, Missouri; two sons, Larry Abbott of Sikeston, Eugene Abbott of Morehouse; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, other family and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by three children, Phyllis Ann Abbott, Fay Sue Abbott and Harry Lee Abbott; three grandchildren, Deana Bell, Tracy Abbott & Marty Abbott; four sisters, Naomi, Viola, Elevyn & Fay; and two brothers. Visitation will be held on Thursday February 21, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Friday February 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with Mike Abbott of Rolla, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
