Florine Dowdy

Florine Mae Dowdy, the daughter of the late Otis Leon and Iva Jo Hunt Sherfield, was born in Bernie, Missouri on May 11, 1923, and passed away at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri on March 31, 2009 at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 20 days. Mrs. Dowdy had lived in the Dexter, Missouri area all her life. She had attended the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter, Missouri. On October 8, 1987, she was married to Claude Trilby Dowdy. He preceded her in death on October 8, 1991. Surviving are one step-son, Wendall Dowdy of Dexter, Missouri; one brother, Russell Sherfield of Dexter, Missouri; three step-grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one daugher in infancy, Pricilla May LaCour, two sisters in infancy, Mayme and Lillian, and two brothers, Henry and Norman Sherfield. Friends may call on Monday, April 6, 2009, after 1:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 6, 2009, at 2:00 PM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Josh Carpenter of Dexter, Missouri officiating. Interment will be in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
