Faithful Charity Strickland, the daughter of the late Loyed and Elsie Louviny Emiline Brooks Hornbuckle, was born in Manila, Arkansas on February 22, 1927, and passed away at the Golden Living Center in Bloomfield, Missouri on March 5, 2007, at the age of 80 years and 11 days.
Mrs. Strickland had lived in St. Louis, Missouri and Dallas, Texas before moving to Dexter several years ago.. She had worked as a waitress and fry cook and was a member of the Pentacostal Church.
She was first married to John Logan Wilkerson and he preceded her in death. She then married James Strickland and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Lloyd Gilbert Wilkerson of Midland, Michigan, Joe Carlton Wilkerson of Gilmer, Texas; two daughters, Myrtle Cleatta Velazquez of Dallas, Texas, Flora Oleatha Sue Worthern of St. Louis, Missouri; one sister, Grace Lee Robinson of Dexter, Missouri; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Wilburn D. "Mike" Hornbuckle of Brownwood, Missouri, and Willis Carlton "Pete" Hornbuckle of Grassy, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Gail Emiline Wilkerson, two brothers, Wilyen D. Hornbuckle and Williard Thomas Hornbuckle, four sisters, Tillie Hornbuckle, Zella Mae Davenport, Zelphia Wilson and Ruthie Pauline Eubanks.
Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 PM on Thursday, March 8, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2007, at 1:00 PM at the New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Arkansas with the Pete Hornbuckle of Grassy, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Arkansas with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
