Evelyn Simpson, daughter of the late Rufus John and Mary Tune Moore, was born in Chaonia, Missouri on December 24, 1915, and passed away at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter, Missouri on November 7, 2015, at the age of 99 years, 10 months and 14 days.
Evelyn had been a resident of the Wappapello and Puxico areas all of her life. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She was a past worthy matron, serving three terms. She had been a volunteer at the Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar bluff and she enjoyed cooking, especially chicken & dumplings and fried pies.
On April 30, 1932 she was married to Albert Earl Simpson. He preceded her in death on June 1. 1983.
Surviving are three sons & spouses, Robert & Violet Simpson of High Ridge, Missouri, Harold Simpson of Puxico, Missouri, Earl & Jean Simpson of Scott City, Missouri; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Other friends and relatives also survive. She was preceded in death by her daughter in law (the daughter she never had), Georgia Simpson, two brothers and four sisters.
Friends may visit on Sunday, November 8, 2015, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Monday November 9, 2015, at 10:00 am at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with Rev. Tim Schultz of Wappappello, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
