Evelyn Diaz of Kansas City, daughter of the late Carl Edgar and Opal Clara Hawley Needham, was born in Essex, Missouri on November 2, 1927, and passed away at the North Kansas City Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri on February 19, 2017, at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 17 days.
Mrs. Diaz grew up in Essex, lived in St. Louis from 1946 to 1990, then moved to Dexter for a short time, she then moved to Sullivan, Missouri to be close to her family and then to Kansas City. She had worked in garment manufacturing and was a member of the Women's Amalgamated Garment Union.
Surviving are one daughter, Deborah Towell of St. James, Missouri; two sons, Don Jordan of Florida, Doug Jordan; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one sister, Maxine C. Roberts of St. Peters, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Morris.
Friends may call on Thursday, February 23, 2017, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the Bloomfield Cemetery with with Rev. Steve Tippen of Bloomfield officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
