Ethel A. Metcalf, daughter of the late Lige and Laria Hadcock Kelso, was born in Arab, Missouri, on June 8, 1909, and passed away at the Golden Living Center in Bloomfield, Missouri, on September 26, 2010, at the age of 101 years, 3 months and 18 days.
Mrs. Metcalf lived in Bloomfield all of her life. She was a member of the Mt. Pisgah General Baptist Church.
On July 24, 1926, she was married to James Otto Metcalf in Ardeola, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1991.
Surviving are four sons, J. D. Metcalf of Bloomfield, Missouri, Duane and Lawson Metcalf both of Dexter, Missouri, Dwight Metcalf of Bell City, Missouri; three daughters, Ilean Hatle of Benton, Arkansas, Kay Goggin of St. Louis, Missouri, Willene Sturgeon of Bloomfield, Missouri; twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Cleo Locke and Mary Lee Sparger, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, after 10:00 AM at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at 12:00 PM at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Bob Bradford of Advance, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Gravel Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
