Emmogene Shirkey
Emmogene Shirkey, the daughter of the late Emmet and Nellie Cooksey Miller, was born in Tilton, Arkansas on December 23, 1917, and passed away at her home in Morehouse, Missouri on May 16, 2008, at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 23 days.
Mrs. Shirkey had lived in Morehouse since 1945. She was a member of the Oneness Pentecostal Church in Morehouse, Missouri
On March 5, 1937 she was married to Chester James Shirkey in Talapoosa, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1989
Surviving are three daughters: Aleta Shirkey of Morehouse, Missouri, Bertie Evans of Chaffee, Missouri and Melba Gates of Sikeston, Missouri. Four sons: Charles M. Shirkey and Eldon "Keith" Shirkey both of Morehouse, Missouri, Chester Shirkey of Dexter, Missouri and Harvey Ray Shirkey of Sikeston, Missouri. Eight grandchildren; Seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son: Ronnie Shirkey, four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call on Sunday, May 18, 2008, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 19, 2008, at 10:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. James Vent of Morehouse, Missouri.
Interment will be in the Bernie Cemetery in Bernie, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
