Emma Lorene Brown
Emma Lorene Brown, the daughter of the late Alva Levi and Amelia Jane Crews Griffy, was born in Puxico, Missouri on February 18, 1928, and passed away in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on February 21, 2005, at the age of 77 years and 3 days.
On December 9, 1946, she was married to Louis Sylvester "Brownie" Brown in Piggott, Arkansas. Mr. Brown preceded her in death on June 12, 1998.
Mrs. Brown had lived most of her life in Stoddard County, living in Dexter for 36 years before moving to Poplar Bluff in 1986. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Fisk, Missouri and was a past member of the Dexter Elks Lodge #2439 Ladies Auxilliary.
She is survived by three daughters: Shirley Jean Fortner of Bernie, Missouri, Emma Daphene Hopkins and Loretta Jane Mikel both of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, nine step-great grandchildren. Many other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Henry M. and Raymond L. Griffy.
Friends may call at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico on Wednesday, February 23, 2005, after 5:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2005, at 10:00 AM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Revs. Luther "Bud" & Bonnie Goins of Poplar Bluff, Missouri officiating.
Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery near Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico Missouri in charge of arrangements.
