Emery L. Abbott, the son of the late Frank and Cora Goins Abbott, was born in Blodgett, Missouri on October 9, 1913, and passed away at his home near Salcedo, Missouri on February 1, 2008, at the age of 94 years, 3 months and 23 days.
Mr. Abbott had lived south of Grayridge, Missouri before moving to Advance where he lived from 1970 to 1974, he then moved to near Salcedo, Missouri. He had worked as a farmer and was of the Baptist faith.
On January 23, 1939, he was married to Flossie Byrd in Grayridge, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife, Flossie Abbott of Salcedo, Missouri, two daughters, Linda (Richard) Bess of Advance, Missouri, Barbara (Reginal) Day of Jay, Oklahoma; two sons, Eugene Abbott of Morehouse, Missouri, Larry Abbott of Sikeston, Missouri; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. Many other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by three children, Phillis Ann Abbott, Fay Sue Abbott, Harry Lee Abbott, two brothers, James & Chester Abbott, one sister, Francis Elfrink and two grandchildren, Deana Bell and Marty Abbott.
Friends may call on Tueday, February 5, 2008, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Febraury 6, 2008, at 11:00 AM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. W. H. Worth of Essex, Missouri and Rev. Mike Abbott of Aquilla, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
