Elmer Sanders

Elmer J. Sanders, the son of the late Elmer Louis and Bessie Irene Presell Sanders, was born in Gray Ridge, Missouri on May 22, 1926, and passed away at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Missouri on September 10, 2008, at the age of 82 years, 3 months and 19 days. Mr. Sanders had lived in the Essex, Missouri area most of his life. He was of the Pentecostal Faith, was a retired farm laborer. On November 3, 1948, he was married to Clara Jane King in Piggott, Arkansas. She preceded him in death in February of 1987. Surviving are four sons and daughters in law, Steve & Vickie Sanders of Essex, Missouri, Bill & Renita Sanders, Delbert & Pam Sanders, Adam and Lyn Sanders all of Dexter, Missouri; two daughters and sons in law, Kathy & Checo Romero and Dorthia & Mike Hess, all of Dexter, Missouri; 24 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine Duncan of Bloomfield, Missouri; three brothers, Doyle Sanders, Roy Sanders, and Donnie Sanders all of Essex, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cindy Blackwell, two grandchildren, Frosty Santos and Jermiah Grim; four sisters, Mildred Williams, Anna Lea Duley, Wilma Jean Alberson, Martha DeSmyther; and two brothers, James Sanders and Charles Dee Sanders. Friends may call on Saturday, September 13, 2008, after 10:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2008, at 1:00 PM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Danny Collins of Qulin, Missouri officiating. Interment will be in the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
