Edith Turnipseed Buttry, daughter of the late David Ira and Maude Henry Ham was born in Rombauer, Missouri on April 8, 1920, and passed from this life at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Missouri on September 28, 2010, at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 20 days.
She had lived in Dupo, Illinois before moving back to the Puxico, Missouri area in 1961. She had worked in Housekeeping and as a cook at the Puxico Nursing Center for many years, in addition to being a personal care giver. She was a cherished member of the Brown General Baptist Church in Puxico and one of God's chosen angels. Edith loved farming, tending her hogs, cows, chickens and her garden. She will be sadly missed by all, but fondly remembered with much LOVE!
On July 29, 1939, she was married to Cecil Turnipseed in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He preceded her in death in August of 1972. She then married Willie Buttry on November 22, 1997, in Puxico, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 2, 2001. She later married Eli Barks and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are one sister, Nellie Berens of Belleville, Illinois; one brother, Med Ham of Puxico, Missouri. Other relatives and friends survive. In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by three sisters, Goldie Ham, Janvee Foster, Gladys Hastings, four brothers, Ardel, Sylvester (Rodney), Sherman and Clarence Ham.
The family would like to thank the staff of Lakeview Home Healthcare in Wappapello, Missouri, The Golden Living Center in Dexter, St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, the Dexter Hospital as well as St. Louis University Hospital.
Visitation will be Friday, October 1, 2010, after 10:30 AM at the Brown Church near Puxico
Services will be held Friday, October 1, 2010, at 12:00 PM in the Brown Church near Puxico with the Rev. John Buttry of Puxico, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Brown Cemetery near Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
