Earl Lee Stilts, son of the late Lee and Alma Hedrick Stilts, was born in Gypsy, Missouri on October 2 , 1924, and passed away at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri on July 26, 2012, at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 24 days.
Earl had lived in the Puxico area most of his life. He was a retired mechanic at John Deere and had also been a farmer with Douglas Farms. He was a member of the Kinder Chapel near Puxico. He was a charter member of the Mingo Saddle Club at Puxico, served in the U. S. Army during WWII and enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising beagles.
In 1972 he was married to Georgie Issac in Leora, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife, Georgie Stilts of Dexter, Missouri; two daughters, Kathy Wiese of Columbia, Missouri, Nancy Sanders of St. Peters, Missouri; one step-daughter, Frances Stovall of Puxico, Missouri; three step-sons, David Hayes and Darrell Overton both of Puxico, Missouri, Elroy Overton of Pasco, Washington; 3 grandchildren; 13 step-grandchilden; 7 great grandchildren; and several step-great grandchildren. Other family and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanette Sitze, Bodge Straatman and one step-son, Oscar Overton.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 27, 2012, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Ray Placher of Puxico, Missouri officiating..
Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
