Earl Miller, son of the late Luther and Ida Gooch Miller, was born in Dexter, Missouri on December 15, 1924, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on July 27, 2012, at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 12 days. He had lived all of his life in Dexter, Missouri. He had worked for the Worley Implement Co. John Deere dealer for 32 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and was a member of the Dexter V. F. W. for 65 years. On May 18, 1946, he was married to Esta Lee Gillis in Piggott, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on January 5, 2004. Surviving are two daughters, Diane Pewitt of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Regina Hastings of Farmington; four grandchildren, Jake & Ann Pewitt of Cape Girardeau, Tristan & Parker Hastings of Farmington, Missouri; one brother, Clarence Miller of Essex, Missouri; one sister, Freda Eaton of Dexter, Missouri. Other family and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Lee Miller on December 2, 2003, and one sister, Lois Matthews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2012, at the Essex Cemtery in Essex, Missouri with the Rev. Jimmy Kirby of Dexter, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow at the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
