Earl Cordell Hix, son of the late Oliver and Annie McAlpin Hix, was born in Drumright, Oklahoma on January 26, 1922, and passed away at the Willow Rose Rehab and Healthcare in Jerseyville, Illinois on November 26, 2007, at the age of 85 years and 10 months.
Mr. Hix had lived most of his life in Michigan and had moved to Godfrey, Illinois in 2004. He was a Mechanical Engineer and was retired from Chrysler Motors after 46 years. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. and a twenty-five year member of the American Legion both in Trenton, Michigan. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corp and had served in WWII and Korea.
On March 1, 1969, he was married to Norma Glenn in Detroit, Michigan.
Surviving are his wife, Norma Hix of Godfrey, Illinois; one step-son, Ronnie Wilhelm of Brighton, Illinois; one step-daughter, Kathleen Castillo of Godfrey, Illinois; two grandchildren, one great grandchild; and one sister, Gioradyne Comer of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Friends may call on Thursday, November 29, 2007, after 11:00 A.M. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri. Masonic Rites will be held at 12:45 P.M.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 29, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Dennis Doublin of Puxico, Missouri officiating.
Entombment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Military Rites conducted by American Legion Post 59 of Dexter, Missouri. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
