Dorothy D. Julius, daughter of the late Mack and Minnie Riley Cochran, was born in Newport, Arkansas on October 27, 1908, and passed away at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Missouri on December 12, 2007, at the age of 99 years, 1 month and 15 days.
Mrs. Julius had lived in Puxico and Grandin, Missouri before moving to Dexter 26 year ago. She was a home maker, a member of the Eastern Star and a member of the Sweet Prospect General Baptist Church in Dexter, Missouri.
She was first married to Earl Riley on September 17, 1925, He preceded her in death in 1951. On May 6, 1958, she was married to Samuel David Julius in Mississippi. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Surviving are four daughters, Velma Julius of Florissant, Missouri, Norma Compson and Betty Smith both of Phoenix, Arizona, Thelma Christian of Dexter, Missouri; one step-daughter, Doris Caldwell of Caseyville, Illinois; three step-sons, David Julius of Caseyville, Illinois, Orville Julius of Granite City, Illinois, Archie Julius of Florissant, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; many many great great grandchildren; and one sister, Verlie Hardin of Arnold, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call on Friday, December 14, 2007, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2007, at 2:00 P.M. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. James Hamlett of Risco, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
