Dorothy Lee Compton of Dexter, daughter of late Hubert William Hudgens and Ruby Emma Sadler Compton, was born in Dexter on October 11, 1932, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Hospital in Poplar Bluff, on July 29, 2020, at the age of 87 years.
She was a life long resident of Dexter and had worked at International Hat Factory as a seamstress and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed collecting stamps, clocks, birds, and doing genealogy.
Dorothy was married on April 24, 1977 in Virginia, to Carroll Walker Compton and he preceded her in death on February 2009
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Brandt, of Nixa, Missouri and Sandra Miller of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; two sons, Darrell Brown of Cape Girardeau and Garry Brown of Kennett, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, and twenty-two great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Brown, and one brother, Dale Hudgens and four grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at 2:00 pm at the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.
Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter will be in charge of all the arrangements.
