Dorothy Marie Cobb, the daughter of the late Elmer Roy and Thelma Beatrice Craig Horton, was born in Bernie, Missouri on March 4, 1926, and passed away at Southern Missouri Healthcare in Dexter, Missouri on April 25, 2008, at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 21 days. Mrs. Cobb had lived in Essex, Missouri most of her life except for spending 1977, to 1997, in Doniphan, Missouri. She was a member of the Hopewell General Baptist Church near Essex, Missouri. She had worked at Elder's Manufacturing for many years. She and her husband had also owned Cobb Grocery in Essex and later moved it to Doniphan, Missouri. On November 19, 1951, she was married to Charles Cecil Cobb. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1988. Surviving are two daughters, Judy Ackman and Janet Palmer both of Essex, Missouri; two sons, Charles Wayne Cobb of Doniphan, Missouri, Robert "R.C." Cobb of Wappapello, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; four sisters, Faye Cutler and Yvonne Hunt both of Arnold, Missouri, Wanda Underwood of Centrailia, Washington and Jean Cobb of St. Louis, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by three sons, Charles C. Cobb, Jr., two in infancy, Danny Ray and James Roy and two brothers, Everett and John Horton. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday April 27, 2008 at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2008, at 2:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Martin Goode of Malden, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
