Dorothy P. Carter of West Bloomfield, Michigan, daughter of the late John and Nettie Hester, was born in Bloomfield, Missouri on December 26, 1924, and passed away in Detroit, Michigan on December 3, 2015, at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 7 days.
She had lived in Michigan from 1965 to 1983 when she returned to Dexter. She had lived in DeSoto, Missouri and returned to Michigan three years ago. She was a member of the Sugar Tree General Baptist Church near Bernie and had attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in DeSoto.
On June 13, 1941. she was married to Henry Carter in Bloomfield, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1997.
Surviving are three daughters & husbands, Henryetta & Donald James of Clarkston, Michigan, Nettie J. Carns of West Bloomfield, Michigan, DeEtta & Louis Richardson of Highland, Michigan; one son & wife, Jack & Brenda Carter of DeSoto, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son in law, Fred Carns, three brothers and five sisters.
Friends may call on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, after 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, with Pastor Rich Grayson of Hillsboro, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
