Dorothy Mae Bledsoe, daughter of the late David Estele and Miama Belle Lusk Wood, was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 9, 1929, and passed away at the Golden Living Center in Dexter, Missouri on May 28, 2015, at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 19 days. Mrs. Bledsoe had lived most of her life in Dexter, Missouri, although she lived in California for six years and moved back to Dexter in 1969. She had worked at the Hickory Log Restaurant and at Hudson Foods. She was a member of the Ark of Hope Church in Dexter. On July 30, 1961 she was married to James Willis Bledsoe in Pigott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on July 25, 2013. Surviving are two daughters, Debra Morse of Dexter, Missouri, and Nelda Poeppelmeyer of Bloomfield, Missouri; two step daughters, Charlene Peterson of Chicago, Illinois, Sandra Bledsoe of Chicago, Illinois; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Jean Carlton of Dexter; three step sisters, Becky Nichols, Judy Billings and Betty Jo. Other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by one step son, Cecil Robbins; one step daughter, Connie Robbins; and four brothers, Max, Billy, Jackie and Bobby Wood. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with Rev. Jamie Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Caroline-Dowdy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri. Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.
