Doris Stroud, the daughter of the late George and Lula Skagges Brooks, was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 22, 1927, and passed away the Missouri Southern Healthcare facility in Dexter, Missouri on April 26, 2006, at the age of 79 years, 3 months, and 4 days.
Mrs. Stroud had lived in St. Louis, Missouri for many years where she was a secretary with the McGraw-Hill Company. She returned to Puxico, Missouri ten years ago. She was a member of the Christian Church in Puxico, Missouri.
On August 4, 1996, she was married to William C. Stroud in Doe Run, Missouri.
Surviving are her husband, William C. Stroud of Puxico, Missouri; two step-sons, Terry (Sidney) Warman of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, William W. (Donna) Stroud of Puxico, Missouri; five step-daughters, Carol Baldwin and Joan Carmer both of Farmington, Missouri, Jean (Dan) O'Malley of St. Louis, Missouri, Sheryll Dvorak of Oregon, Wisconsin, Vicki (Jack) Seamans of Glendale, Arizona; eighteen step-grandchildren; many step-great grandchildren; three sisters, Lee Gilligan of California, Hazel Robertson of O'Fallon, Missouri and Velma Brown of Dexter, Missouri. Other friends and relatives also survive. She was preceded in death by one brother, Bert Brooks, and one sister, Ruth Scott.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 29, 2006, at 11:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Wiley McGhee of Puxico, Missouri officiating and the Rev. Amos Dees of Wappapello, Missouri assisting.
Interment will be in the Elliott Cemetery near Puxico, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements. Online register book is available at www.watkinsfuneralhome.com.
