Doris Lee Barnes, daughter of the late Kermit and Myrtle Matthews Smith, was born in Stoddard County, Missouri on July 21 1940, and passed away at the Cypress Point Nursing Center in Dexter, Missouri on March 12, 2016, at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 20 days.
Doris lived in the Dexter and Bloomfield area all her life. She was the past Matron of Bloomfield Chapter 385 OES. Doris was also a member of the Dexter Church of Christ. She also worked at Elders Manufacturer for many years as a seamstress..
Surviving are two daughters, Zenita Smith and husband Greg of Essex, Missouri; and Theresa Sadler, of Dexter, Missouri; six grandchildren and their spouses Michael (Rena) Sadler, Ashley (Eddie) Blackwell, Christopher (Kristen) Smith, and Jackie (Marife) Smith all of Dexter, and William and Kyle Smith of Essex, Missouri; seven great grandchildren Ayden, Liam, and Shire Sadler; Jensen and Ronin Blackwell; Mackenzie Smith and Deacon Smith. Many other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister Deloris Smith; and brother Ray Smith.
Friends may call after 5:00 pm on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at 10:00 am at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri with Kyle Carter, of Sikeston, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri. Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of all arrangements.
In Lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to the Shiner Hospital in St. Louis Missouri, or to the Stoddard County Foster Family Christmas Party c/o First Baptist Church of Dexter, Missouri.
