Donald Jean Rodgers, the son of the late Glen E. and Elizabeth Gogorth Rodgers, was born in Puxico, Missouri on June 9, 1941, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on October 25, 2008, at the age of 67 years, 4 months and 16 days.
Mr. Rodgers had lived in Morehouse for thirty years and moved to Wappapello and Greenville areas eight years ago. He was a retired farmer and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Wappapello Eagles Aerie and the Wappapello VFW. He enjoyed riding his golf cart, gardening, squirrel hunting and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
On July 8, 1960, he was married to Peggy Jean Rice in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy Jean Rodgers of Greenville, Missouri; one son, Glen Rodgers of Wappapello, Missouri; one daughter, Sherry Clay of Wappapello, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several foster grandchildren; four brothers, Ronnie, Michael and Sammy Rodgers all of Advance, Missouri, Carroll Rodgers of Camden, Tennessee, three sisters, Mary Lou Adams of Bloomfield, Missouri, Judy Lemons of Wappapello, Missouri, Linda Barnett of Evansville, Indiana. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, Charlie Rodgers and one sister, Patty Pendergraft.
Friends may call on Monday, October 27, 2008, after 6 :00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at 1:00 PM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with Bro. Ira Lee Sandefer of Sikeston, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
