Donald J. Hester, the son of the late Daniel and Minnie Baker Hester was born in Flint, Michigan on June 29, 1929, and passed away at his home near Dexter, Missouri on August 29, 2008, at the age of 79 years, 2 months.
Mr. Hester had lived Waterford, Michigan for many years before moving to Dexter in 1998. He was a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter, Missouri. He retired from General Motors in Pontiac, Michigan after 32 years of service. As a young boy he became an Eagle Scout, he was an expert marksman and enjoyed skeet shooting, bowling, hunting and fishing. Enjoyed most spending time with his family and the Grand Kids..
On April 16, 1948 he was married to Dorothy Maxine Vincent in Piggott, Arkansas.
Surviving are two sons: David Hester of Auburn Hills, Michigan and Daniel Hester of Rochester, Michigan. One daughter: Monica Elam of Bernie, Missouri. Two brothers: Charles Fisher of UP, Michigan and Gilbert Fisher of Patoka, Nevada. One sister Viola Lanning of Lady Lake, Florida. Ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one daughter: Claira Gail Buck and three brothers Gene, RL, and Paul Hester. Many other relatives and friends also survive.
A Memorial Service is to be held at the Second General Baptist Church on Sunday, August 31, 2008, at 6:00 PM with the Rev. Josh Carpenter of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
