Donald Baker

Donald Lee Baker, son of the late Roland T. and Helen Marie Winnegar Baker, was born on August 24, 1931, and passed away at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on March 7, 2013, at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 11 days. He had lived in Bernie most of his life. He had worked at IXL Handle in Bernie for many years and attended the Corner Gospel Fellowship Church in Bernie. On November 28, 1953, he was married to Ruth Helen Lane in Hernando, Mississippi. Surviving are two sons, David Baker and Ronald Baker both of Bernie; one daughter, Leslie Sandage of Dexter; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; four brothers, LaVaughn Baker of Van Buren, Missouri; Jerry Baker and Gary Baker both of Dexter, Wayne Baker of Bernie; two sisters, Barb Watkins of Dexter, Joann Ray of Cape Girardeau. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Charlene Frederick, Shirley Miller, and Alowese Massey. Visitation will be Friday, March 8, 2013, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with Rev. Tim Russell of Dexter, Missouri officiating. Interment will be in the Bernie Cemetery in Bernie, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
