Dewell Hood, son of the late Virgil and Ella Riles Hood was born near Advance, Missouri on March 8, 1923, and passed away at the Texas State Veterans Home in Floresville, Texas on April 10, 2008, at the age of 85 years.
Mr. Hood had lived in Advance for many years before entering the air Force. Mr. Hood retired from the US Air Force after 23 years of service as a Master Sergeant. After retirement from the Air Force he joined the Civil Service as an Equipment and Communications Specialist he retired from there in 1989. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. He served as a Scout Leader and was a member of the Optimist Club International and coached many little league baseball teams
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Hood of San Antonio, Texas. One son: Lewis Hood of Seguin, Texas. Two daughters: Jane Jacob of Chicago, Illinois and Ginger L. Davis of Tucson, Arizona. Three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Many other relatives and friends also survive.
Friends may call on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, after 9:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at 12:00 PM at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with the Rev. Bob Hopkins officiating.
Interment will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full Military Honors provided by the US Air Force.
