Deward "Deke" Philpott, son of the late John and Emily Davis Philpott, was born in Bloomington, Indiana on October 21, 1944, and passed away at his home in Aquilla, Missouri on March 17, 2015, at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 24 days.
He had lived in the Southeast Missouri area most of his life. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and enjoyed fishing, hunting and making knives. He was a retired carpenter.
Surviving are two sons, John Raymond Philpott and Deward Eugene Philpott, Jr. both of Indiana; three daughters, Stacy Philpott of Jackson, Missouri, Stardust Watson of Terre Haute, Indiana, Melissa England of Bloomfield, Missouri; eleven grandchildren and one great grandson; one brother, Jerry Philpott of Kingman, Arizona; two sisters, Donna Alberson of Florida and Vickie Nunn of Farmington, Missouri. Many other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Danny Philpott, and one sister, Shirley Ashley.
Friends may call on Friday, March 20, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015, at 1:00 pm at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Associate Pastor Chris Masters of Dexter officiating.
Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors, Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
