DeLola V. Findley
DeLola V. Findley, 87,died on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at the Poplar Bluff
Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
She was born in rural Puxico on Sept. 7, 1922. She was the daughter of the
late John D. Lee and Velma D. (McNear) Lee. She had lived in the Puxico and
Bloomfield area until in 1957 when she and her family moved to
Crawfordsville, Ind. After living in Indiana for 50 years, she moved to
Dexter in 2007 and lived there until her death.
She was a member of the New Bethel General Baptist Church. Other
memberships include past president of the Smartsburg Home Demonstrators Club
in Indiana, past member of the Crawfordsville Hospital Auxiliary and member
of the Missouri Southern Health Care Auxiliary in Dexter. DeLola worked at
Elders Manufacturing-Bloomfield, R.R. Donnelley-Crawfordsville for over 28
years retiring on Jan. 24, 1986, and as a caregiver with a second retirement
on Jan. 24, 2002.
DeLola was married for over 37 years to Oral N. Findley, who preceded her
in death on Feb. 15, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her infant
brother Donald Lee, her brother Vern D. Lee, and grandson Arthur M. Vickers.
Survivors include her daughters Joyce Findley-Johnston and husband Paul D.
Johnston of Dexter, and Sandra Vickers and husband A. Michael Vickers of
Madison, W.Va.; great-granddaughter Nichole Rich (daughter of the late
grandson Art Vickers) and her husband Brent of Fairbanks, Alaska; one
granddaughter Sharyn Price and her husband Lee of DeRidder, La.; two
great-grandsons Tate and Ty Price; one great-great grandson Blake Rich; one
step-granddaughter Vicky and her husband Terry Fields of Dexter; one
step-grandson David and his wife Amy of Oxnard, Calif.; three step
great-grandchildren Chrissy Herren and her husband Shannon, Julia Johnston
and Michael Johnston; one step great-great-granddaughter Lexi Herren;
nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21,2010, at the Watkins
and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter ,and the funeral service will be at 2 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 22, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel with Rev. Dean Williams
officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Hill Cemetery near Puxico.
