Delois Slavings, daughter of the late John Melvin Crump and Clara Glass Crump, was born in Bernie, Missouri on April 24, 1939, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on January 23, 2007, at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 29 days.
She had resided in Broseley, Missouri since 1972 and was a former resident of Bernie and Malden. She attended the Little Vine General Baptist near Fisk, Missouri. Later in life she enjoyed her free time with her grandchildren Kevin, Nikki, Elizabeth, Hunter, Alexis, Madison and Johnathan.
On March 15, 1968, she was married to Ralph Sterling Slavings at Big Rock, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 9, 2006.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Eva and David Cobb and Clara Alvina and Lin Wright all of Broseley, Missouri, Betty and Doug McDonald of Festus, Missouri; four sons, Kelly Slavings and Mike Slavings both of Malden, Missouri, Earl Slavings of Denver, Colorado, Joe Slavings of Beaver Dam, Virginia; seventeen grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her step-mother, Ruth Crump, one sister, Mable Thompson and two brothers, James Clayton and Orville Crump.
Friends may visit after 11:00 AM on Friday, January 26, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 26, 2007, at the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Rev. Fred Applegate of Broseley, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
