David A. Burnett, the son of the late David Francis and Bernice Orton Burnett, was born in Birmingham, Alabama on May 11, 1940, and passed away at his home in Dexter, Missouri on May 20, 2008, at the age of 68 years and 9 days.
Mr. Burnett had lived in Dudley before moving to Dexter, Missouri seven years ago. He had retired from Tyson where he was a "Chicken House" manager. He was of the Missionary Baptist belief.
On February 1, 1960, he was married to Jean Smith in New Madrid, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Burnett of Dexter, Missouri; three sons, David Allen Burnett, Bobby Burnett and Gary Burnett all of Dexter, Missouri; one daughter, Sharon Kay Henderson of Dexter, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two brothers, Bobby Burnett of Buckeye, Arizona, Darrell Burnett of Springfield, Missouri; six sisters, Barbara Carter of Bernie, Missouri, Goldie Mason of Phoenix, Arizona, Pat Waldrup of Little Rock, Arkansas, Lalie Ferguson of Buckeye, Arizona, Jackie Ferguson of Dexter, Missouri and Connie Smith of Malden. Many other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one one daughter, Betty Jean Gott and one sister, Anita Courtie.
Friends may call on Friday, May 23, 2008, after 10:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, May 23, 2008, at 11:00 AM at the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri.
Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
