Clarence Wilson "Davy" Crutcher
Clarence Wilson "Davy" Crutcher, son of the late John L. and Eliza Shobe Crutcher, was born in Essex, Missouri on October 5, 1918, and passed away at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri on February 18, 2009 at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 13 days.
Mr. Crutcher had lived in Essex, Missouri most his life and had lived in Dexter the past several years. He had served two terms on the Essex City Council and was instrumental in getting the City Water Works started. He served three terms as Mayor of Essex at which time the city sewers were installed. He had served as tax collector for four terms. He had bought , remodeled and sold real estate over a period of years, doing his last one at age 89. He had served as a guide at Rockwood Point on Wappappello Lake for five years and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also farmed, did plumbing work and trucking. He was of the Methodist Faith. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and had served in the European Theater in France on D-Day, Guam, Tienan and Saipan campaigns.
On December 24, 1937, he was married to Ruby Cates in Dexter, Missouri. She preceded him in death on November 19, 1995.
Surviving are one son, Wilson Crutcher of Dexter, Missouri; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.
Friends may call on Friday, February 20, 2009, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2009, at 10:00 AM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Josh Carpenter of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
