Charles "Tinker" Tilley Sr.
Charles R. Tilley Sr., the son of the late John Henry and Vevie Dillard Drye Tilley was born in Sherrill, Arkansas on August 17, 1946 and passed away at the Missouri Southern Health Care in Dexter, Missouri on February 11, 2011, at the age of 64 years, 5 months and 22 days.
Charles had worked in the St. Louis area until moving to Essex, Missouri. He was a Veteran of the US Army and had served in Korea. He was employed as an over the road truck driver for many years he also enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a member of the Kennedy Hanks American Legion Post 59.
On May 13, 1966 he was married to Sharon Moore in Clines Island, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon Tilley of Essex, Missouri; two sons, Bill Rutledge (Rhonnie) of Diehlstadt, Missouri, Charles "Chuck" Tilley Jr (Donna) of Essex, Missouri; two daughters, Cheryl McClure (Billy) of Bloomfield, Missouri, Lisa Taylor (John) of Dexter, Missouri; seven grandchildren; Joshua (Regina) Rutledge, Charlie (Ryan)Decker, Chad Tilley, Casey (Jamie) Vincent, Amber Tilley, BayleeTaylor, Rylee Taylor, two step grandchildren; Tyler and Zack Thurman, one great grandchild Karter Vincent, six brothers, J.W. Tilley and Robert Tilley both of Bloomfield, Missouri, Larry Tilley of Essex, Missouri, Kenneth Tilley of Van Buren, Missouri, Dale Tilley of Morehouse, Missouri, William Merrick of Summersville, Florida, three sisters, Floy Jean Robey and Katherine Hopkins both of Bloomfield, Missouri, and Gale Bess of Dexter, Missouri. Many other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl "Pete" Tilley, Gerald "Shorty" Tilley and three sisters, Maxine Robey, Lula Jackson and Lenora Bost.
Friends may call on Monday, February 14, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri.
Interment will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors conducted by the Stoddard County Veteran's Honor Team. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
