Charles "Chuck" Meeks, son of the late Charles Robert, Sr. and Georgia E. Bath Meeks, was born in Kansas City, Kansas on December 30, 1945, and passed away at his home near Lowndes, Missouri on September 11, 2011, at the age of 65 years.
Mr. Meeks had lived in the Kansas City, Kansas area until moving to Lowndes twelve years ago. He had retired from General Motors in 1999 and had been a member of the Auto Workers Local 31 in Kansas City, Kansas. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post in Mountain View and was a veteran of the U.S. Marines having served in Vietnam, he had received a purple heart.
On October 14, 1967, he was married to Martha Beasley in Goose Creek, South Carolina.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Meeks of Lowndes, Missouri; one son, Charles Meeks, III of Kansas City, Kansas; one daughter, Cherly Wynn of Kansas City, Kansas; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; and one sister, Rita Tapp of Colorado. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by six sisters and one brother.
Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at 3:00 pm at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Ernie Rogers of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
