Charles Albert Lewis, the son of the late Elmer George and Edith Ethal Matteson Lewis, was born in Pontiac, Michigan on January 17, 1937, and passed away at his home in Dexter, Missouri on July 20, 2013, at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 3 days.
He had moved to Dexter in 1979, he lived in Villa Ridge, Missouri from 1995 until 2000 when he returned to Dexter. He was of the Catholic faith and had served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a tool and die maker by profession working at Purolator Products in Dexter for 18 years and the Chrysler Plant in Fenton, Missouri for 5 years until he retired in January of 2000. He enjoyed spending time with his family, being outdoors, camping, and fishing.
On October 18, 1980, he was married to Linda June Kidd in Dexter, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Lewis of Dexter, Missouri; one son and wife, Jeff & Ruth Lewis of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; three daughters and husband, Dolores Barriner of Dixon, Missouri, Ann Quigley of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Lisa & Shannon Wren of Greenville, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and one sister, May Machin of Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Other relatives and many friends also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two step-sons, Dale & Andy Pullum, one son-in-law, Dennis Barriner, one brother, George Arthur "Tony" Lewis and one sister, Beverly Ann Davis.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday July 25, 2013, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.
