Charles Hume, the son of the late Charley and Nancy Jane Fortner Hume, was born in Dexter, Missouri on October 29, 1918, and passed away at the Golden Living Center in Dexter, Missouri on April 21, 2008, at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 23 days.
Mr. Hume had lived in Dexter, Missouri most of his life. He was a charter member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter where he had served as a deacon for many years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.
On October 3, 1942, he was married to Ava Geneva Asbell in Dexter, Missouri.
Surviving are his wife, Geneva Hume of Dexter, Missouri; one grand-daughter, Lori Buck of Dexter, Missouri; one great grandson, Keiton Buck of Dexter, one foster-son and family, Chris & Michelle Cannon, & Christopher Cannon all of Dexter, Missouri; one sister, Ivy Lyles of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Many other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Duane Hume on October 25, 1972, two sisters, Ollie Maze and Viola Griffin, and three brothers, Earl Hume, Luther Hume and Leslie Hume.
Friends may call on Wednesday, April 23, 2008, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008, at 11:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Josh Carpenter of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
