Charles J. Adams, the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Etna Mae Lowery Adams, was born in Parma, Missouri on March 13, 1920, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on April 15, 2008, at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 2 days.
Mr. Adams had lived in Pontiac, Michigan for twenty-seven years and returned to Dudley, Missouri in 1978. He was retired from the GMC Truck and Coach Division of General Motors. He loved to garden and hunt.
On March 6, 1948, he was married to Naomi Chapman in Piggott, Arkansas.
Surviving are his wife, Naomi Adams of Dudley, Missouri; two sons, Charles Adams of Summertown, Tennessee, William Adams of Columbia, Tennessee; one daughter, Edith Crum of Orion, Michigan; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two brothers, Edward Adams of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Sammy Adams of Rochester Hills, Michigan; two sisters, Rachel Ragasa of Barstow, California, and Clara Harris of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Many other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth Anita Adams, three brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call on Thursday, April 17, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 18, 2008, at 1:00 PM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. David Skinner of Puxico, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
