Cecil A. "Jake" McGowen
Cecil A. McGowen, the son of the late William Andrew and Mezella Jane Craft McGowen, was born in Dudley, Missouri on February 25, 1931, and passed away at his home in Puxico, Missouri on August 25, 2005, at the age of 74 years and 6 months.
Mr. McGowen had been a resident of the Puxico, Missouri area all his life. He was a member of the Hobbs Chapel Church near Puxico, Missouri.
On February 24, 1951, he was married to Helen Maxine Clark in Clay County, Arkansas. His wife preceeded him in death on January 29, 1999.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Dean and Carol McGowen of Puxico, Missouri, one granddaughter, Karyn Griffin of Puxico, Missouri; one grandson, Steven McGowen of Puxico, Missouri, four great grandchildren, Brooklynn McGowen, Jakob McGowen, Corbin McGowen, "Opie" Taylor Griffin all of Puxico, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Lewis, Thomas, Everett, Elvis, Elmer and Hubert McGowen, two sisters, Lila Midgett and Ethel Hobbs.
Friends may call at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico on Friday, August 26, 2005, after 6:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2005, at 10:00 AM in the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Amos Dees of Wappapello, Missouri officiating.
