Carrie Ward Sutter, the daughter of the late Thomas and Lillie Jines Ward, was born near Wappapello, Missouri on September 27, 1922, and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on December 16, 2005, at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 19 days.
She had lived in the Puxico, Missouri until moving to Cape Girardeau, Missouri in 1994. She and her husband had owned and operated the Puxico Mercantile. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Puxico, Missouri, the Puxico Eastern Star and had served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scout program for many years. She was a Paul Harris fellow of the Puxico Rotary Club.
On May 5, 1947, she was married to Alton Sutter, he preceded her in death on May 16, 2002.
Surviving are two sons and daughters in law, Stephen A. & Gale Sutter of Puxico, Missouri, Douglas W. & Colleen Sutter of Erie, Pennsylvania; one granddaughter, Nicole Sutter; two sisters, Opal Ward of Puxico, Missouri and Copal Fronabarger of St. Peters, Missouri. Other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Thomas Sutter, six brothers, Frank, Tom, Leffie, Raymond, Floyd, & Roscoe Ward, and three sisters, Octa Snow, Stella West and her infant twin.
Friends may call after 6:00 PM on Monday, December 19, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri. An Eastern Star service will be held at 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with the Rev. Wiley McGhee of Puxico, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.watkinsfuneralhome.com
