Carolyn Jo Postek of Dexter, daughter of the late Harold Theodore and Josephine Adams Schellenger, was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 22, 1947, and passed away at the Southeast Health Center of Stoddard County in Dexter on February 14, 2020, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 23 days.
Carolyn was raised in St. Louis and moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1984. She was of the Christian faith. Carolyn had many health struggles in her life with over 70 operations and she survived with one kidney since she was 14 years old. She didn't let any health problems stand in the way of helping others in need. She would give the shirt off her back to make sure you had food on the table or an electric bill was paid so you could stay warm. She held many jobs throughout her life including nurses aide, restaurant manager, hotel manager, and she worked alongside family members in the siding and construction business. Mom, we know you are no longer in pain, but we miss you so much already and we know we'll see you again in heaven. Heaven will be a brighter place with you lifting up the angels in God's service with your voice and guitar.
On September 23, 2000, she married Thomas James Postek in Phoenix, Arizona.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas J. Postek of Dexter, three sons, Harold Watson of Dexter, Charles Watson of Kirksville, Daniel Watson of Maryland Heights; three daughters, Jennifer Postek and Janet Postek both of Fort Collins, Colorado, Jessica Smith of Lexington, Kentucky; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren; three brothers, Waldo and Harold Schellenger both of Highland, Illinois, Clyde Schellenger of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Twyla Schellenger of Pocahontas, Illinois.
