Carl M. Owens, son of the late Wiley M. and Edith Abington Owens, was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on September 17, 1930, and passed away at his home near Dexter, Missouri on December 4, 2010, at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 17 days. Mr. Owens had lived in St. Louis, Missouri where he worked as an engineer for Boeing Aircraft. He moved to Dexter in 1991. He was a member of the Dexter Elks Lodge and attended the First General Baptist Church in Dexter, Missouri. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. On September 4, 1954, he was first married to Patty J. Dyer in St. Louis, Missouri. She preceded him in death on June 5, 2003. On April 3, 2004, he was married to Doris Garrett Hutchcraft in Dexter, Missouri. Surviving are his wife, Doris Owens of Dexter, Missouri; three step-sons David & Brant Hutchcraft both of Dexter, Missouri, Mark Hutchcraft of Hampton, Virginia; one step-grandchild; one step-great grandchild; one brother, O. C. Nisewonger of West Virginia; one sister, Mona Erwin of Roseville, California. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Linda Hutchcraft Montgomery; and a brother, George Owens. Friends may call after 10:00 AM on Wednesday December 8, 2010, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs of Dexter, Missouri officiating. Interment will follow in the Morgan Memorial Park Cemetery in Advance, Missouri. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri is in charge of arrangements.
