Bill F. Harris, son of the late Earnest Newton and Minty Jane Welker Harris, was born in Bloomfield, Missouri on April 22, 1927, and passed away at his home near Bloomfield, Missouri on March 23, 2010, at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 1 day. Mr. Harris had lived in Bloomfield, Missouri all his life. He was a lifetime farmer and a member of the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield, Missouri. He served as a Board Member of the Bloomfield School System from 1961 to 1973, and served as board president for several years. From 1975 to 1982 he drove a school bus. For many years he served as President of the Bloomfield Cemetery Associaton. He was an avid cardinal baseball fan and a very dedicated Bloomfield Basketball fan not missing a game until his health failed. In 2009 the Bloomfield Athletic Association started an annual outstanding athlete award in his honor. Most of all he enjoyed hunting with his two sons. On September 21, 1946, he was married to Peggy Douglas in Bloomfield, Missouri. Surviving are his wife, Peggy Harris of Bloomfield, Missouri; two sons, Larry Harris of Naples, Florida, Don & Leta Harris of Florence, Alabama; grandchildren, April Dawn Harris of Florence, Alabama, Lora Ann & Cody Ralston of West Weatherford, Texas, Jeremy Don & Jessica Harris of Mobile, Alabama, Heather Raye Harris of Naples, Florida; great grandchildren, Chelsie Harris of Naples, Florida, Ty & Dylan Ralston both of Weatherford, Texas; one sister, Louisa & Seldon Quick of Bloomfield, Missouri; and a special little girl that called him PaPaw, Abby Jarrell. Other relatives and many friends survive to mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Shawnna Renea Harris on Jan. 28, 1986, and two sisters, Ivah Harris and Derotha Hutchison. Friends may call on Thursday, March 25, 2010, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri. Funeral services will be on Friday, March 26, 2010, at 11:00 AM in the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield, Missouri with the Rev. Kevin Eskew of Bloomfield, Missouri officiating. Interment will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
