Berta Lee Fox, the daughter of the late Larkin and Mary Eveline Davis Bennett, was born in Kennett, Missouri on January 7, 1920, and passed away at The Cedargate in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on October 4, 2009, at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 27 days.
Mrs. Fox had lived most of her life in Wayne County, Missouri. She was a lifetime member of the New Life Baptist Church in Wappapello, Missouri and was a retired nurse's aid. She enjoyed spending time with family & friends, embroidery work and sang with the Golden Girls Gospel Quartet.
On March 19, 1938, she was married to Leonard Franklin Fox in Wappapello, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 6, 1990.
Surviving are five sons, Leon Fox of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Leroy, Jim and Elbert Fox all of Wappapello, Missouri, Bill Fox of Bloomfield, Missouri; one daughter, Kay Fox of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, Joseph M. Bennett of Bonne Terre, Missouri. Many other relatives and friends also survive.
Friends may call on Friday, October 9, 2009, after 6:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009, at 10:00 AM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Vaughn Kirkman and Byron Beck both of Poplar Bluff, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Wappapello Cemetery in Wappapello, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
