Berniece Rodgers Cox, daughter of the late Elmer and Hettie Gailey Harty, was born in Dudley, Missouri on September 16, 1921, and passed away at the Golden Living Center in Dexter, Missouri on February 5, 2011, at the age of 89 years, 4 months and 20 days.
She had lived in the Dexter, Essex & Aid communities for many years and moved to Puxico, Missouri in 2004. She was a member of the Liberty Hill General Baptist Church near Dexter, Missouri.
On May 4, 1935, she was married to Earl Rodgers in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 23, 1985. On May 6, 1988, she married Henry Cox. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2004.
Surviving are one daughter and spose, Bonnie & Jim Lankford of Dexter, Missouri; one son & spouse, Ralph & Carolyn Rodgers of Puxico, Missouri, one son-in-law, Kenneth Mueller of Wappapello; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Wanda Mueller; one granddaughter, Andrea Luttrull, one brother and two sisters.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 7, 2011, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Services will be held Tuesday, Febraury 8, 2011, at 1:00 pm in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Roy Sherfield of Dexter, Missouri and Rev. Bobby Nordyke of Puxico, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
