Ava Geneva Hume, the daughter of the late Chester and Lillie Link Asbell, was born in Clines Island, Missouri on May 17, 1921, and passed away at the Golden Living Center in Dexter, Missouri on September 26, 2009, at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 9 days.
Mrs. Hume had lived in Dexter, Missouri area all of her life. She was a charter member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter. She had been a self-employed day care worker and kept children for thirty years.
On October 3, 1942, she was married to Charles William Hume in Dexter, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2008.
Surviving are one grand-daughter, Lori Buck of Dexter, Missouri; one great grandson, Keiton Buck of Dexter, one foster-son and family, Chris & Michelle Cannon, & Christopher Cannon all of Dexter, Missouri; one sister, Annette Robertson of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; four nieces and three nephews. Many other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Charles Duane Hume on October 25, 1972, one sister, Marcia Wilson and one niece.
Friends may call on Thursday, October 1, 2009, after 1:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2009, at 2:00 PM in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Josh Carpenter of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
