Arvel N. Menley, the son of the late Henry Everet and Sarah Ellen Leffel Menley was born in Stoddard County, Missouri on April 23, 1917, and passed away at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Facility in Dexter, Missouri on March 19, 2006, at the age of 88 years, 10 months and 24 days.
Mr. Menley had lived in Southeast Missouri all his life. He had worked as a farmer and had also worked at Swift's Poultry Plant in Dexter, Missouri.
On March 3, 1954, he was married to Wilda Mae Horn in New Madrid, Missouri. She preceded him in death on June 17, 2005.
Surviving are one son, Glennon Menley of Lebanon, Missouri; four daughters, Evelyn Boyt, Cathy Smith and Joan Espada all of Dexter, Missouri, Wilma Rodgers of Sikeston, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Peterson of Rock Island, Illinois. Other freinds and relatives also survive. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Patty Thomason, two sisters, Evelyn Menley and Martha Bell Osloske, and one brother, Lester Menley.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 22, 2006, at 1:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with Bro. Dale Grissom of Dexter, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Triplett Cemetery near Dexter, Missouri with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements. Online register book is available at www.watkinsfuneralhome.com.
